Getting your Macom size right

Macom garments are sized from body measurements, not clothing size. Because compression garments must apply a specific level of pressure to be clinically effective, ordering by your usual dress or bra size is likely to result in the wrong fit. Please measure yourself before ordering and refer to the Macom sizing guide for the specific garment you are considering, as sizing can vary between product lines.

For bras: measure your underbust in centimetres immediately after surgery while any surgical bra or dressing is in place, or as directed by your surgeon

For girdles and bodysuits: measure your natural waist and hips at their widest point

If you fall between sizes, size up to accommodate post surgical swelling in the first weeks

Macom garments should feel firm but not restrictive you should be able to breathe comfortably

How to Measure

Frequently asked questions

Which Macom garment is right for my surgery?

This depends on the area of your body that was operated on and your surgeon's specific instructions. As a general guide: for breast surgery, a Macom post surgery bra or comfort bra is typically recommended. For tummy tuck, abdominal liposuction, or C-section recovery, a side fastening girdle or high back girdle is usually most appropriate. For combined procedures, a compression bodysuit may be suggested. If you are unsure, please contact us or speak to your surgical team before ordering.

How long should I wear my Macom garment each day?

Your surgeon will give you specific guidance on wearing times, and their advice always takes priority. In general, most post surgical compression garments are worn continuously for the first two to four weeks, including during sleep, and then transitioned to daytime wear only for a further four to six weeks. Macom garments are designed to be comfortable enough for extended daily wear without causing skin irritation.

How do I was my Macom Compression Garment ?

Yes Macom garments are hand washable. Avoid using fabric softner, tumble drying, ironing, or dry cleaning, as heat can damage the elastic fibres and reduce the compression level over time. Many patients order two garments so they can alternate and wash one while wearing the other. This also extends the lifespan of each garment considerably.
